Wow, isn’t it SUPER convenient how after the kids winning over Aunt Jane (his estranged sister), and her signing over the land (that they grew up on, & he probably knew about the rocks & such on it), Grandfather /just happens/ to have everything set up & ready to go with setting up the mining operation… 🙃

I’m a little too cynical for kids’ books. LOL. The kids love the ranch… there won’t be much of a ranch left if they let people in to strip mine it.

And I’m kind of annoyed by the implication that they’d be obliged to let people in to mine - they’re never asked if the want to allow a bunch of strangers in, it’s just assumed. Uranium IS radioactive, though…

Christ. Xenophobic much? Henry wants a watch put out on this guy for the crime of… not being a local, and staying in the town a few days! Really?

And hopefully there’ll be some lesson about not judging based on appearances, because Jessie thinking he’s trustworthy just because she thinks he’s handsome is… really not a smart thing.

Oh, 50s recipes… I am SO glad we’ve dropped a lot of them. Orange juice & a beaten egg does NOT sound appealing at all.
