Themes: remembering and balance—Black women tired of carrying everyone’s burdens but also want safety and protection for Black men; Gender norms: men socially conscripted to be “protectors” and balancing generations of being emasculated; Black women deserve to rest but not at the expense of other Black women

Also so much here about ethics!! And then the grotesque image of how the carriers are stuck ugh

Ummm hell nah lmao. Stepford wives on steroids. There is SO MUCH to unpack in just the first half of this book!!!! The intersectional oppression (racially, between genders, and socioeconomically), the allegorical (and twisted!!) depictions of burdened Black women + segregation, the medical trauma 👀

Also Thea hey maybe don’t take pills from people you just met????????
