That's a hard question! It's well written; Manjiro feels real; and I like him. I didn't like the end quite well as the beginning, but it was still good.

Yes, especially for kids but for adults, too. I like that Manjiro wants to help people of different nations and appearance recognize their common humanity - and he actually does.

It might be a better novel if it was pure

fiction, but it's based fairly closely on truth. That can really hamper an author. But it makes it more encouraging, too.

There's nothing objectionable in it.
