haymitch seems so full of love and liveliness, compared to when we first meet him, so how does he end up isolated and bitter? i want to know but at the same time i don’t.

nonetheless, even though i’m still hoping for haymitchs triumph, i already know crazy shit will happen. because in the og books he’s alone, but how did he become that way? like does the capitol discover his plan and rebel endeavors so they punish him by killing his family and lenore dove? and make him mentor and watch the demise of district 12 tributes? this is what i’m assuming happens.

also i really like the community of the newcomers, compared to katniss’s pov there’s this sense of hope in this novel, like that these characters can actually do something for their freedom. there’s this fiery and electric energy between the characters, and their familiarity brings me excitement, and then i remember their fates, so i automatically get shut down. but im really interested in effie and plutarch.

i keep forgetting we already know haymitch, and younger self gives me so much hope for panem and his future, but then i remember that this is not exactly the case. i am so intrigued on how beetees and plutarchs plan is not going to work, i really want it to, but in the back of my mind i know something will happen to fuck it up.

i’m about halfway done and so much has happened. i really like being in the perspective of district youth. snows capitol youth pov actually killed me and i cannot recover. i really enjoy haymitch’s perspective. his personal accounts of everything remind me of katniss, but then i get reminded that he is literally her mentor.

it’s insane how they feel they either have to succumb to capitol pressures, or suffer in capitol punishment instead. i read these books like it’s real life.

i just finished the first 2 chapters and i am shattered. that reaping scene was so intense. everything that occurred between the families
tributes and peacekeepers was fucking insane. and when sickle called the chance boy a body i was livid. the fact that plutarch used family farewell too as currency for last moments was SICKENING. the mccoy family and lenore’s moments, i couldn’t. but then haymitchs family
