Sooooo why was he taking the medication if he wasn't really sick?

It's like you realized you did no build up for this character to be this way and thus now have to over exaggerate it.

Does this man have any actual goals? Or is this just like 'being evil' and 'being a villain' is just a job like this is Despicable Me or something?
