Whoa! That’s a twist I didn’t see coming!
Nice to see that Adam Baker realized that another shock was required to keep me engaged!

Definitely Walking Dead drama vibes.
Think this book was published in 2011 so, given that the TV Series premiered in October 2010???? It’s possible there was a borrowing of ideas, some massaged thoughts and concepts.
An homage to a successful idea and riding its coattails. I’m okay with that. Otherwise we wouldn’t have piles of zombies, vampires, and werewolfs and I would be crying in my morning cereal!

Following four separated main characters over the last four chapters. One I had been wondering about because she just disappeared from the pages for a time. Another I thought had died but apparently not. Does feel like a miniseries rather than a book. Ironically it is still holding my older brain attention.

Sometimes this book is painful within its characters futility and doubt. Not many of them are fighters, which begs to ask how many humans really are or if Adam Baker has most of us pegged correctly.

This book would make a really great graphic novel or mini-series. Has it been picked up? Picked apart?
Someone could make millions🤣

Turning into Walking Dead in severe cold climate???
Lots of treachery going on.
Lots of underhanded planning and backstabbing.
Lots of infected but with a seriously bizzaro twist.
And it’s cold. Did I mention it’s cold?
And not quite 1/2 way through???

Such a good choice! So glad I found this book for my summer creature-feature fiasco. It’s a pleasant surprise. While not much creature yet, the icy conditions are a cool break from 90+ degree real life.

That’s a big howdy-do! A quarter of the way into this apocalyptic book and the tale just turned into something else! 🥳 it’s a party!

Solid tension that works, really works. Almost feel the cold rising off the pages. Good book to read when your own outdoor temps soar above 90F.

And Baker explains just enough of the technology. Enough to understand without being frowned in unfamiliar jargon. Much appreciated 😬
