so it’s kinda obvious that certain characters exist to push the plot along in a pretty heavy handed manner, that mainly being mia who can both speak tagalog and also just have investigative journalism knowledge. but also it’s a ya novel so i get the heavy handedness. my only other comment is that it’s so frustrating that grace and jay don’t talk about jun like it’s right there !!!

once again very ya and heavy handed conversations. i do think it’s an interesting perspective to bring up that jay in this case is “a colonizer” coming into the philippines with his western perspective and trying to apply it to the political world of the philippines. the random love story thread is kinda irritating

main character is stressing me out so bad. i also didn’t realize this was a ya novel so ill chill on the criticism since its meant for a younger audience. it is really refreshing though to see so many references to being pinoy and manila and the philippines
