I called it and it's exactly as dumb as I thought it would be

It's a complete tonal whiplash

The protagonist annoys me because fully just admit you had a one night stand five years ago it would literally be less hurtful to your partner than leaving him suddenly without explanation after your kid just died

It's fine I guess

I'm leaning towards Bad

I'm also not entirely convinced this thriller needs this like immense multi chapter backstory when the actual plot apparently takes place 15 years later
