I think one of the reasons Ryland Grace is not a believable character is not the fact that he never shuts up (he doesn’t—like, ever), but the fact that he never appears to experience a genuine emotion. He has to cry for us to know he’s sad, there’s no other cues. He’s in a life-or-death situation and the spunky narration never changes, he just slaps some science on it and it’s fine.

Uh-oh…I loved the movie. I wonder if this is a case where the movie’s better than the book?

I loved the movie too so I wanted to read the book, but it’s absolutely a case of the movie being better this time 😅 I’m trying to read the whole thing because I genuinely can’t figure out why everyone is giving it 5 stars when it’s so poorly written, occasionally crass, and Ryland Grace is annoying lol Rocky is the best part by far 😂
