Really enjoying this so far. Since starting this book, I have found out that mum went to the play with her mum and dad when she was still at school. Her and Uncle Shaun have both watched the movie, too.

Would love to Monseigneur Bienvenu sit down over a coffee at Twenty Eight with a mega church pastor.

I’ve just finished reading the introduction by Norman Denny [the translator] and am kind of nervous.

Victor Hugo [the author] sounds like he’s an absolute waffler that may indoctrinate me with some 1800’s French political propaganda.

But seriously am having it brought to the surface of my attention the importance of a good translation, and how many strong opinions there are on what makes a good translation.
