They're using an air compressor to blow radiation out of the engine room lol. That's not how that works lol. I'm glad I don't live in 1989 when this book released. I would totally have chewed on uranium as a baby and not known any better.

Fascinating how visual this all is. For like two seconds, I wondered if having illustrations would help, but then I read chapter 7 and honestly, I'm not sure I need it. Do I understand how this structure works biologically? No. But I sure can picture it. Anyone else seeing the structure on the planet Krytis from SPOP but with way more skeletons? No? Just me?

This is the closest I've seen in book form to Scavengers Reign. There are probably others as well on my tbr, but this is kind of weird how much I'm seeing the influence.

I am only on chapter 2, and I can immediately identify one particular episode of Scavengers Reign was directly inspired by this. It's the episode where the two people go through the thick hedge. Chapter 2 of this we have encountered a thick hedge which they might go through. There's some other stuff in the summary that reminds me of that episode. For example, the creature that has a very short life cycle. Interesting
