i didn't think i'd relate to oak as much as i do... i'm glad he's the pov character of this book instead of wren, since we got to know wren quite well in the stolen heir, though despite getting to know her, she's very hard to read from oak's pov, granted, she's become the ice queen, and oak believes everyone hates him... but her mind being blocked from the reader gives that intrigue, it's great

LMAOOOOO okay, i get all the shoe horned in references to oak being similar to locke, BUT HIS PLAN TO MARRY WREN TO KEEP HER SAFE AND TO PREVENT WAR IS SUCH A CARDAN MOVE, OAK IS WAY MORE LIKE CARDAN THAN AT FIRST GLANCE
on an unrelated note, i like hyacinthe's and oak's dynamic, they didn't interact in the last book so it's great they're interacting now, they make quite the comedic duo

oak being a parallel to locke is very interesting, they never interacted properly, oak barely even remembers him and locke never even acknowledged his existence, but they're half brothers, they're constantly described as fox like because of their charms, but locke never felt bad about being a manipulator, oak despises hurting and leading on others and i quite like that
