I don't if I'll ever finish this book. It's good but it's dense and demands close attention to every detail. I read Chapter 3: Politics in a New Key, about the failure of liberalism in Austria on the recommendation of the historian Marci Shore in one of her lectures about the origins of fascism. Written in 1961 it has a sense of objective distance from both its 19th century subject matter and current affairs.
