I guess its just the nature of this kind of story, but the timeskip threw me off a bit. Wish we'd gotten the dad's perspective earlier on, but it's still interesting to see how he's processed everything.

M's perspective really gives more insight into how monstrous he is because he apparently hides quite a lot from everyone else.

The shifting perspectives are used well. It's interesting to see this kind of story from more than just the person who starts it all. It'd be very easy to stay with the grieving mom and make it all way more sympathetic, but having her friends and family go "this is weird and crazy" makes it a little more grounded.
