Maybe I do like Fabian. He made the priestess think he's a god by learning Akkadian and bossing her around. He's becoming interesting, at least. Still a total jerk.

I cannot understand how their society doesn't get how nature works. They're going back in time to figure out how people farmed in ancient Mesopotamia. I'm not even a scientist and I know that info. It's such basic knowledge. What happened to all their knowledge of the past? I get going back for samples of extinct species, but this is a little extreme. I wish we had more info on how things got like this in present day

She's 84, and probably the greatest hands on ecologist alive. And you're going to give her basic teamwork exercises as a joke? Dude. Shut up.

I always think futuristic stories should be further out. This is 2267. I doubt scientists could figure out animal-like prosthetics in the next 250 years. Especially ones that work and connect to the nerves. The way the tech is now, connecting to nerves is extremely difficult, and it never works as good as the original. Also, heart surgery in 20 mins no recovery time? No. Not possible.

I think the author could have had the characters in Mesopotamia by now if she cut down on the corporate jargon and politics of the characters trying to win the bid for the time travel project. I'm sure it'll be fun once we get there. But until then, more business speak here I come...

First of all, love the octopus cyborg(?) on the cover. Really sets the tone. Secondly, do those little black balls remind anyone else of the pokeballs Mewtwo had in the first Pokemon movie to catch the trainers' Pokemon, or is it just me? Black with a red dot in the center. Sure, it's missing the purple stripes and the fact that the red dot is the pupil of a yellow eyeball, but it's close.
