The characters are exactly the same as the ones in the circus series and they seem to work better in the other books. The too frequent witty banter is a bit grating here.

It's as if the main characters from the circus series have been transported from that series to this one and just given different names. The excess witty banter seemed to work better in the other one. It's kind of grating here.
