The pace is quick, but the story is heartfelt. It's been a while since I've read a book that follows the standard plot progression lol. I liked the vague, dreamlike foreshadowing—really added personality to the story. Magical, heartbreaking, and engaging, this one was such an important read on how children suffer by the hands of selfish and exploitative adults.

I saw that I only had five hours left to return the loan on libby, and I'd waited several months for this hold; so naturally I turned on airplane mode and read this in one sitting. THIS WAS SO SAD FOR NO REASON 😭 It's fantasy and thriller, and I couldn't peel myself away from the book.
