I need to stop buying/reading books like this because I always end up angry. This is so simplified that it’s insulting reader’s intelligence, quotes outdated sources (Gibbon) and is written for American eyes because it can’t help itself but mention either WW2, Syria, Bush, Dick Cheney, etc. every few pages (mind you, the first chapter is about Ancient Rome and Germanic tribes)
