I literally had to scroll back to make sure I hadn't inadvertently skipped an entire chapter, but no. The author really did just skip two back-to-back emotionally climactic relationship moment that we'd been set up for at the end of the prior chapter and recap them in the next chapter's opening with Akai basically thinking "well, that was nice" instead? That's... a choice.
