HOLY FUCKING SHIT

You know, the bad thing that happens to Nix might just be this whole situation. I am rooting for Temmi and Spie so hard (I love their dynamic SO MCUH) but just fucking imagine learning that the first girl you allow yourself to like (and who you genuinely get along with) was paid to "date" you by your sister and also has something going on with your sister. I would simply die and never trust anyone or anything again.

And so the murder mystery plotline begins! Also, the more and more page-time we get with Nix, the more and more sure I am that something terrible is going to happen to him or that he's going to be put in a situation where he has to do something terrible. He's just too sweet and too worried about doing good and his sister is too worried about his happiness and... Yeah. Yeah, I'm nervous for him.

This is so good so far. I'm just getting to the part where the politics start taking a more central role and I am PUMPED, there have been so many signs that Branham can handle it. Also.... Am I finally going to a sapphic storyline with power imbalance where that's explicitly dealt with and acknowledged? (Arcane and so many books have pissed me off like it's so interesting why won't you actually DEAL WITH IT???)

Spie is such an asshole 😭 I'm sympathetic of her situation, but even her narration kind of makes me want to throttle her into some self-reflection. Very interested to see how she develops

I'll write the review for Frontier later, but the hold for this came through in EXCELLENT time (aka when I only had ten pages of my last book ready). I might not read much of this today since Friday nights tend to end up me binge reading some kind of candy read, but I already love the MCs voice here - I think this is going to be a good time!
