I'll try to explain this without spoilers.
Nothing particular, I'm just frustrated that it's already vol 3 and I don't feel like Mo Xi would try to understand Gu Mang at least a little. I know he's hurting too, and that he was betrayed and almost died because of Gu Mang but I don't have a feeling that he's in anyway eager to uncover the truth. I'm certain that what Gu Mang did was not only for revenge and even less ambition and I can't believe that Mo Xi is so dense to believe that this is true. He's always feeling sorry for himself because he loved Gu Mang and was betrayed but in my opinion Mo Xi doesn't deserve him. I think he just never tried to understand what means to be a slave and what Gu Mang went through - not just after defecting but before too. Yes, Mo Xi had a hard life too, but he was privilged to be born as aristocrat, while Gu Mang had to fight for every little scrap of dignity. I don't know where I'm going with this, I'm just not a fan of Mo Xi today 😠

Given that I'm at the vol 2 start only (can't 100% agree with your thoughts YET), for me, Mo Xi is rigid, stoic and constantly conflicted towards Gu Mang. Like, in vol 1, he didn't believe him yet had some moment where he questioned ''what if's''. But if in vol 3 he is still uncertain and gets colder and colder towards Gu Mang + misunderstands him all the time, then I get your comments. I will probably feel the same frustration babe. At the same time, imo, we are kept deliberately outside Gu Mang's thoughts hence Mo Xi's turbulent and complicated pov. I like when we get frustrated while reding stories and I bet my left knee, everything will be explained nicely. If I would be kept in dark with false information for so long and gather sort of resentment towards person who caused this all, I would be probably like dense Mo Xi. But we will improve, trust :D

Gu Mang is baby but so is Mo Xi but yes protect GM at all costs lol

I'm in dire need of vacation (3 weeks to go untill then 😅) because I'm in the middle of two worst weeks of the year (work related), anyway, that's why I'm probably especially annoyed today #sorrynotsorry 😆
I went reading my reviews of vol 1 and 2 and I was a lot more understanding about Mo Xi. I was even writing how much I'm heartbroken about him, so it's not like I don't feel sorry for him. And I know there's still 4 more volumes to go, so a lot of time to resolve everything but I guess I was just hoping that Mo Xi will change his mind about Gu Mang already. I otherwise love angst but maybe I'm just not in the mood right now 🥹 and I agree with you that novel is written brilliantly when it gets such a reaction out of readers 😄 I'm really curious about your thoughts when you'll get to this part. And also about vol 2, of course 😊
