I turned.
My eyes landed on Pandora, and the air stalled in my lungs.

~ I'm sorry... are you fucking telling me Pandora can resurrect herself!?!

“She kneed him in the balls. It was fine. But then—then—” he continued through his sobs. “She was shot. Three times. In the fucking head.”

I froze, stomach lurching, and my mind blanked for a second. I’d always been scared of the fuckers, but after the one stung Pandora?
Absolutely fucking petrified of them now.
Reed turned, and his gaze dropped. “Is that a⁠—”
“Yeah!”
Screams erupted from us as we bolted, my shadows whipping around us and leaving whatever dignity we had behind with the scorpion.

Reed and I strolled through the fae market, dealing with the overwhelming fucking assault on our senses the fae realm always promised.

“Reed, dude, you’ve got to stop fucking blaming yourself,” Dex said, breaking the silence. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed as his shadows slithered behind him. His usual sarcastic grin was gone. “You’re not the one who pulled the trigger or injected the dark magic into your neck.”

“Your relationship with her has improved a lot,” Bram murmured, his head falling into his hands. “Skel’s marked her. Then, there’s me. She hasn’t even forgiven me yet—not that I blame her. I want to make it all up to her.”

She was mine. I buried myself inside of her body, but I desperately craved to bury myself inside of her heart and her soul.
