Difference of 20th ce. vs. 21st ce. Autocratic propaganda: “they dont offer their fellow citizens a vision of utopia or inspire them to build a better world.” [as the Soviet era did]

“Instead, they teach people to be cynical and passive because there is no better world to build. Their goal is to persuade people to mind their own business, stay out of politics and never hope for a democratic alternative…

Connections. I’m learning about connections and modern history yet I feel like my mind is blown at every other paragraph (and the others, I am nodding along with very cynically)
