This is shaping up to be a fine book. Occasionally with Trollope, the protagonists erect their own barriers to happiness, but it all comes out right in the end.

I don’t know why Trollope amuses me so. I think it’s because he doesn’t cultivate a style and he writes for the normal person.

I’m a bit underwhelmed by the obstacle constructed to keep Rachel from Luke. His mama interferes?? That’s gonna last up to the minute that Luke finds out.
