That said the idea that a sign is composed of three parts: the sign, the object, and the interpretation seems persuasive. Clearly there is something worth studying in Pierce - just not be me!

I skipped most of the chapter on semiotics because it is very technical to such an extent that absent some prior experience with this area of thought, I would need to take the chapter at at crawl with notes, diagrams, and schematics. As I am reading for Pierce in particular for the political implications of pragmatism on deliberative democracy - I think such analysis wouldn’t serve my broader purpose.

(continued) At present I am not situated in the right place. How anyone could make sense of this material independent of a community of readers/thinkers/interpreters - well that’d be an impressive individual intelligence indeed.
