I skipped most of the chapter on semiotics because it is very technical to such an extent that absent some prior experience with this area of thought, I would need to take the chapter at at crawl with notes, diagrams, and schematics. As I am reading for Pierce in particular for the political implications of pragmatism on deliberative democracy - I think such analysis wouldn’t serve my broader purpose.

(continued) At present I am not situated in the right place. How anyone could make sense of this material independent of a community of readers/thinkers/interpreters - well that’d be an impressive individual intelligence indeed.

My lord! The section on Phenomenology was not easy to comprehend. Much less form an opinion as to its value/accuracy/usefulness. The chapter I am reading on Semiotics is even harder as Pierce seems to create his own terminology. No doubt reading involves situated cognition !
