Darn, nothing is binary in the Middle East. Everything is so darn complicated.

I haven't finish reading, but I'm giving it five stars.
You can't read this book quickly. It is so packed with information. The bureacracies, the national interests, the love of wealth, the countless people just born in the wrong place and time and trying to make the best. Toss is some extremists and know it alls, and the mess is complete.

What a story. International diplomacy is much more complicated than the best spy novels.

On the advice of Judith Miller, author of the very excellent "God has ninety-nine Names". I'm reading Mr. Duelfer's book.
What I like so far is his insistence on explaining the history before moving on. Always an excellent idea in the Middle East.
