On the one hand the discussions of consent and the gendered ideas of who "needs" or "deserves" what are a little unsavory but at the same time the clarity of these discussions + the intimate scenes are incredible. Zero percent chance this book would exist in today's YA landscape. Much to think abt though bc our crit readings this week are about the dangers of generalizing what kind of "education" teens need YA for
