“A second chance” to consider what The Stand offered?
An ear worm of Beatles hits?
Possibly an effort to waylay Discordia?
Whatever…It is a doozy!

Sarah Langan’s The Devil’s Children
This story goes a little too far outside my personal belief of who The Chosen might have been in The Stand.
Don’t get me wrong! It’s a good story, but it felt more like a prequel to Logan’s Run or a sequel to The Andromeda Strain.
Still very good.

Catherine M. Valente’s Came The Last Night Of Sadness
Now this story…🎶🎶🎶 to my King-fed soul!
Such perfection in the telling. Scenes and dreams and all those little Dark Tower twangs!
Mission accomplished! The world after The Stand recognized and carried on.

Premee Mohamed’s Hunted To Extinction
Bracingly cold, this story makes you crave more of Val’s future. Loved the choice of name for Martin. Readers of Stephen King should appreciate the relevance. Made me smile.

I am so content now.
Someone tacked Abigail’s story for us.
And it’s everything it should be.
Lordy! Still wiping the tears away!
Her grace and strength flow from the words!

Usman T. Malik’s The Mosque At The End of The World
So fantastic! The diversity displayed by this collection of stories. Malik’s story brings to life another end of the world and drives home how much alike we all are. We all want to survive to the next day. Lovely story with incredible imagery!

Paul Tremblay’s The Story I Tell Is The Story Of Some Of Us
Interesting use of the word “fulcrum”.
Not that I disagree with it.
Commendable usage.
It’s a cool thing. Like a boss down D chord.

The Boat Man by Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes
This one grabs you and holds on, squeezing your heart, shortening your breath. My grip on the book made my poor fingers hurt!
