It’s so disappointing that there’s so little tension in this “horror” book. Honk shoo honk shoo status.
Definitely recommend “So Lucky” by Nicola Griffith for a disabled queer woman in the Midwest navigating her disability and thriller elements, instead.

What do you mean she’s sending up a silent prayer to her subconscious in the middle of a nightmare for her new cat being in the nightmare as “her ally?”
Why is she so self-aware and distant from the situation? It makes it sound like she’s watching tv not being terrorized and trapped in her sleep.

This hyper aware first person narration telling everything she’s thinking and why is so frustrating, no one is 100% self-aware and rationally explaining it all the time. Describe how things feel in your body besides pelvic pain, how do emotions feel? How does anxiety feel? How does it feel when you talk to your friend you are suddenly informing us in your crush at 35%?

I like the premise but the pacing is killing me. Whenever something interesting happens we go into a repetitive inner monologue until it screeches to a halt
