Notes:
(1) "Dark-skinned vampires undergo an interesting change ... If they were a very dark shade in life, they become a light brown, sort of a milk chocolate. Those who were lighter skinned become a sort of creamy ecru."
- Huh? I wonder if this is how dark-skinned corpses look after they've gone cold?
- Sounds like someone's been busy matching paint swatches... "creamy ecru" is oddly specific for just making it up.

Notes:
(1) "I can't ignore a signed document,” [Eric] said, almost angrily."
- Yeah, it's not a good sign when the heated relationship drama hinges on how binding legal documents are.
(2) The fairy idea of a fun "joke" is impersonating someone in order to fool a human into having sex.
- It's very Greek mythology... this was Zeus' go-to play, if I recall.
- Suddenly, the "Gift Wrap" short story makes a lot more sense.

Notes:
(1) Sookie totally flips out when she finds Alcide naked in her bed. The next chapter, she shows up naked in Bill's bed… he doesn't seem to mind so much.
- I wonder if that's irony, hypocrisy or out-of-context mirroring?
(2) "I was getting pretty damn sick of coping with the huge shawl ... I wondered briefly how Indian women coped..."
- I wonder what "Indian women" she's referring to? Both sorts are plausible.

Notes:
(1) "[Hunter] smiled to himself and picked up another book, this one a Dr. Seuss about dogs."
- I've read every Dr. Seuss book and, albeit a lot of dogs and dog-looking people, there isn't one "about dogs."
(2) "The ice pack had done all the good it was going to, and I removed it from my yahoo palace and put it on the table."
- This being post-coitus, I can only assume "yahoo palace" means vulva and/or vagina.

Notes:
(1) Here's my main problem with this book: it's not really about anything.
- From the blurb, you'd think it's about Merlotte's being firebombed.
- While that does happen, it's just a thing that happens at the start. Everyone moves on, and it's already resolved halfway through the book. Not by any investigation, we're just told.
- Everything here is just stuff that happens. There's no focus or direction.

Notes:
(1) "Sam abandoned Crazy Guy to punch Blond Bristles right in his brisket. The guy went down like a sawn tree."
- Brisket means crotch, right? That's usually what people imply when they use food euphemisms (berries, nuts, plums, huevos, etc.).
- Though breadbasket does mean stomach, so that's a solid possibility.
- Stomach might actually be the leading candidate. Most often, guts get punched, balls get kicked.

Notes:
(1) "...they couldn't imagine what a human could do against their vampire strength and speed. And since I wasn't Superwoman, they might be right."
- Didn't Sookie wear a Superwoman t-shirt in a previous book?
- Is Superwoman a thing in this universe? Not Wonder Woman?
(2) Pam's surname is Ravenscroft... how very Poe-meets-Lovecraft.
- So different from her positively medieval, TV surname, Swynford De Beaufort.

Notes:
(1) Pam to Eric: "She lives with other men. She goes shopping with other men. What kind of husband are you?"
- Pam, ever the Victorian.
(2) Sam: "Sook, that guy [Dermot] treats you like a queen."
Sookie: "Yeah, too bad he's related! And also, he looks way too much like Jason."
Sam: "That's no obstacle to a fairy."
- What now? Are fairies the Targaryens of the supernatural world? Does that make Sookie Jon Snow?

Notes:
(1) Sookie ogles her fairy kin as they work.
- She does know they're kin, right?
- For that matter, Dermot looks exactly like her brother.
(2) "[Sam's] a compact man who was actually immensely strong."
- Yet again, Sam's introduced by Sookie as being short.
- "Compact," huh? Sam... the Honda Civic of supes.
(3) Sookie: "Vampires = drama."
- Indeed, we bear witness to the most dramatic vampire-arranged haircut.

Notes:
(1) So, I haven't exactly been on the ball about continuing this series. That's been for two main reasons:
- First, I've not yet read the novella, "Small Town Wedding," that precedes this installment, and it's been my intention to read the entire series chronologically this time around. I will get to that ASAP!
- Second... I see my original 2 and 1 star ratings for the final three books and fear for my sanity!
