I had been putting off getting to this part, but now we’re nearly through the worst of it 🥲

I never really noticed how often Charlotte mentions the fae in my first read years ago; especially their relation to Jane as a character and her relationship with Rochester. It’s also an interesting peek into how strong an influence folklore still had on British culture. It also lends itself very well to the Victorian gothic aesthetic. (Aka I’m having a really good time here)

I think sometimes I block out how strange Mr Rochester is because of my love for Jane, but he’s such an odd man.

I love living in Jane’s head and listening to the audiobook is bringing a new depth I didn’t realize was possible (also, 2x speed has been a lot of fun, I think it just makes Jane’s reports feel even sharper, which I love)
