This also explains why Richard Parker didn’t emerge from under the tarpaulin until he was one of the only ppl left. He had to become the tiger in order to survive. Wow.

The cook = the hyena which Pi killed last. His mother = the orangutan that floated on bananas. Pi ofc was the tiger swimming for his life to the lifeboat. The sailer = the zebra who broke his leg jumping off the ship into the life boat. Wow.

In chapter 90 and 91 when the tiger (Pi) eats the blind Frenchman, that was the cook from the ship? He was French. Pi said the other man he was talking too had a French accent but he said it was the tiger talking. This is crazy.

Chapter 91 Pi admits to eating a human. Fully admits it. This was so impactful when I read it omg I had to like stare out the window afterwards to go back to reality. It was chilling tbh.

Poor Pi. I’m seeing more similarities between him and the tiger more and more. He’s the animal. He’s become an animal while on the lifeboat. Eating cigarettes and a boot? Eating brains, liver, lungs, and everything. Just like an animal would. He asked the tiger if he killed another and he said and woman and a man aka the hyena and orangutan. And he’s blind, brittle, starving and thirsty. With no end in sight.

Richard Parker is being nice to Pi. Wasn’t expecting that. But also Pi did save his life by letting him aboard the boat.

Pi might deadass survive. Well ik he does but his chances r up. I forget what happens to Richard Parker tho. And I’m still curious about the second story. Bc it’s now just Pi and this tiger surrounded my the ocean and sharks.

Im trying to understand the animal analogies too while im reading but im kind of lost. I’m also surprised that the hyena would kill and eat the zebra night one. When if this were a human they could fish. Why did nobody else bring food aboard with them from the water too? Or r the animals real and Pi is making the analogies? Unless they r all like split personalities of himself and how he’s feeling too?

So the zebra is dead. There’s only Pi, the tiger (who hasn’t made another appearance yet), the orangutan, and the hyena. Ofc the sharks periodically in the water as well. If the animals were not on board then Pi def should’ve brought the floating food on board with him. Also it’s been 36-48 hours now and Pi has got to eat or drink something now before he dies.

Chapter 21 and 22 r so impactful. Wow. Just like the reporter said “dry, yeast less factuality” and “the better story”. Such perfect words to describe an atheist. I’m floored honestly by the religious intellect. And I love the way Pi described the love of religion and different views of it. How u can be devoted to multiple beliefs at once is beautiful to read.
