Nothing says “of its time” like an explicit rape scene followed by the victim declaring there’s no need to apologize 😬

I am overall enjoying the book, but this is part of the value in exploring art of the past, not just the cheery depictions of the era by people who remember it fondly. The good old days were garbage! We don’t want them back!
