Was Lisa Jewell kidnapped at some point in her life??? So many of her books are about sick, twisted kidnappings and/or horrifying abusive childhoods. (And yet I still fall for it almost every time, thinking the plot might be different…)

I had paused for a while, but The Family Upstairs and The Family Remains were less sick & twisted than the rest so I had high hopes for this one. She does write a great story though so I never DNF
Oh wait, I see I basically DNFed None of This is True because it was too horrific. And in my review I swore to never read her stuff again 😂
