inally finished Helliconia Summer
Whilst I enjoyed Spring more and much of Summer is spent seemingly in mundane matters, it subtly grows in stature as the tale heads to its climactic revelations. There also some fantastic setpieces involving the unique fauna and interesting notes on the astronomy and seasonal cycles of the world
Whilst not always exciting, I am enjoying the series’ dynastic story and world building

*Helliconia Spring is completed*
I enjoyed savouring that. It's a slow read, one that will put off a lot of readers, but I was caught up in the saga on the world and the generations of people affected by the seismic seasonal changes. The characters aren't overly likable, but their stories are very human and I will miss seeing their lives unfold
