him learning more about her is also us learning more about her, but we know she does not go into marriage with these negative intentions, it’s simply just her role she needs to follow but he of course doesn’t see that. also my favorite part so far is antoinette and christophine at her house saying she needs to LEAVE HIM. LIKE YES TELL HER. and then she prescribes her witchcraft to try.

however, i am a rochester hater so i completely despise his outlook on her and the servants. although i think his pov was what i needed to see how she really is and how the characters are. i also wanted to see how their relationship was before thornsfield and we are getting that in this part. their marriage is devoid of love, but i think there’s a sense of care and excitement to learn about each other.

okay sooo i’m halfway done with part 2 and im finally liking it, it doesn’t feel unbearable anymore. i hate that it’s mr rochesters pov though, like omg. i think why i enjoy it more in this section stems from seeing Antoinette in a new pov, how she acts and who she is, it’s given me a new pov to see her in obviously.

but i think this idea of her not really leaning into religion and questioning it is so interesting, and contrasts jane, even if they had the same education. i want to dive into that more.

i started this book and the idea excited me so much. i kind of forgot about bertha mason, and in JE she’s kind of brushed off to the side, so this concept sounds really fun. however as i just begun pt 2, i don’t find myself getting into it as much. i don’t know i feel jaded reading it. i don’t know if i just can’t understand rhys writing but her writing seems so difficult.
