I'm beginning to understand that this author writes only one type of MC and that is The Specialist Girl Who Ever Lived. This doesn't have to be a bad thing--I think it might work better in this book than Emma M. Lion--but I am definitely noticing it.

No it’s a made up place but near the British isles I believe?? I think there’s either context for it at some point or I looked it up, but I LOVE gentle fantasy elements so I was very into it.
No, it's not England. There's a map somewhere that I saw - it's an imaginary island in the Atlantic, kind of off the coast of France.
