25 years ago today, the world changed forever. Whether you were in America or not, whether you were American or not - the reverberations were felt.

On September 9, 2001, something unprecedented happened when terrorists hijacked planes, flying them into the World Trade Center / the Pentagon, and would have weaponized at least one more, probably flying it into the Capitol.

Trish I really do remember that day and the days after. I remember school, fear, uncertainty, defiance, shock, grief ... all of it. Every year, I grief and try to come to terms with what happened and the consequences of those attacks. I watch documentaries and read books about it. I don't think I'll ever not choke up or even all-out cry but every year, when I learn new details or remember already-known ones, it gets a bit more bearable. And the defiance never left.

Since this is the 25th anniversary, there were special events in the US, of course. Like the 9/11 Observance Ceremony at The Pentagon (you can watch it in full on YouTube) or the 9/11: 25 years later, America Remembers by ABC (also on YouTube).

Best of all, I thought, was all the memorials getting the spotlight they deserve - and the awesome drone show: http s://ww w.youtube.co m/watch?v=aN-Yb5Xb9hU

Resilience, pereverance, and solidarity are probably the best that came of this horrible event. Which is another reason why I read and watch all these books, movies and TV shows about 9/11 because there are some really awesome stories and we should celebrate the victims, rescuers, families, survivors, and animal helpers more than anything.
