Decades of protestant vs catholic cultural clashes, & parliamentarian vs royalists radical government reforms, plus the ongoing continental thirty years war, & horrible economic & social conditions including overpopulation, all contributed to the outbreak of the english civl war in the 1640s.

King Charles fails in arresting five opposing members of parliament and the entire city of London becomes chaotic over dread of armed conflict between royalists and parliamentarian people. It falls apart and people start seizing and stockpiling weapons in anticipation of civil strife.

Another publisher wrote a piece criticizing people’s long hair and calling women actresses whores. King Charles had the top of his ears snipped off.
