This might be a weird comparison, but Darkpaw reminds of me Dorian Gray. The way they both justify their murders by going "well, it wasn't my fault, he provoked me" is terrifying. I was expecting this book to try and make us empathize with Darktail too much, but I appreciate that it's like "no this kid has been unreasonable and violent from the beginning"

I was not expecting Ravenpaw x Barley to be officially officially confirmed as mates (as in, not in adaptations / supplemental material). It's been like 23 years, but we finally get Ravenpaw saying "my mate, Barley"! Wow!
