Was James Joyce secretly a rapper? I read most of this chapter in rapper-voice, watch:

Also, I feel like this was a genuine note-to-self left in: "Hell did I put? Some pock or oth. It is utterl imposs. Underline imposs. To write today."

Too much Italian in this book, not enough Irish.

Kinda uncomfortable reading the anti-Jew rants, knowing Ireland later refuses to side against the Nazis in WWII, but whatever I guess.

I like Lenehan, the guy who keeps saying things wrong. I might start using "I hear feetstoops" and "O, for a fresh of breath air!" myself.

I won't bother thinking the "striking of that match" actually foreshadows anything.

He's trying to make Odysseus parallels happen now.

I've noticed that every now and then, 2 pages of this edition of Ulysses have to be ripped apart, and I've decided it was done on purpose so that those in the know can discern true Ulysses readers from posers who haven't opened every page. Fair play, Penguin. Fair play.

I deal with stream-of-consciousness writing the way I deal with panic attacks: don't overthink it, don't try to fight it, just relax, flow with it, and keep breathing.
