Even if the father says the opposite he can't hide that he sees Miles as a impaired kid and he feels sorry about him and Miles hates that.

I like the length of the chapters and I'm not sure exactly what's going to happen next but the conflict is there. He's physically impaired and there's expectations about him so he has some shoes to fill. He I suspect he's about to do something reckless.
