I want to devour the rest of this book and I am genuinely mad work is getting in the way of my reading lol

Only a fleck of horror or far--still nothing terrifying-- but DAMN I am just so sucked in. I love the writing. I love the imagery. I love the slow burn.

The description of Elias being woodsmoke gets a bit repetitive, but I don't mind. It's done quickly enough that the moment I notice it, it's on to something else.

Not a lot of horror happening quite yet, but the slow-burn yearning is A+, and I cannot get over the incredible writing and voice.

I'm really vibing with Cañas' writing style. It has a cool sort of melodic poeticism, really adding to the ominous imagery. It's like I'm standing in a brightly lit room as the story begins that slowly starts to darken as I'm still inside, adding to the dread. And the slow burn-romance!? SWOON!
