Patroclus spent one day in the war and killed more people than half the army, the man was competent. And now he's also dead, which sucks.

The next song will be about the death of Patroclus :(

The translator apparently skipped a line where a guy picks up the severed head of the man he just killed and throws it into the crowd. Thankfully the editors made sure to amend that omission.

I am loving the likenings in this one, they're very creative and poetic. My favourite one so far was in the eight song, where the man Gorgythion, a son of Priamos, dies, and as he collapses in death, his bowing head is likened with that of a poppy blowing in the wind. It was nice.

I really love how absolutely no one, except Aphrodite, even likes Paris. The Greeks hate him because he stole Helen, his family hates him because he stole Helen and caused all this war. Even Helen hates Paris for being a coward who shies away from the fight he started, and she hates him for kidnapping her. Helen consistently compares Paris to Menelaus and consistently concludes that Paris sucks.

I've been putting off reading Homer because I was afraid of the language. I've now realised that it really isn't that bad (even though my translation is over a hundred years old).

I can't believe that the gods are making these decisions. I want to say more things about them, but I fear I'm still far too much of a Percy Jackson fan to dare say anything bad about the gods too loudly.
