I eyed him. “Alpha, huh? Is that a furry thing?”

Alec choked.

No one else seemed to pick up on the joke, and I sighed, lamenting the fact that most of the people I hung out with were too old to get my humor.

Taylor looked like she was going to be sick. “No.”

“Is this your first one?” I asked.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN, IS THIS MY FIRST CANNIBAL?” she screeched.

The attraction had grown from a spark into a blazing inferno. I could practically see the flames creeping closer while I sat and drank my latte, a little text bubble floating above my head declaring that this was fine, everything was fine.
