Ah I see. We spent maybe 5 pages for the entire journey of the first ingredient in the haunted area. And then 7 pages of them just sitting in the inn bedroom. I think 15 at the inn overall. I understand focusing the character relationship. But even that feels kind of unfocused. I think I could tell you this authors favorite romantasy books, but she’s just trying to cram them all in without and emotional buildup :(

So far the book is fun. I like the writing well enough, thought it can be a bit clunky. I do feel like some things are being rushed along, and because of that have less impact. For example, her semi-healing a 200 year old beings self hatred by repeating what many people have told him since “the incident”, aka “you were young, that’s not you anymore”. And her feelings towards him developing sooo quickly
