Finally picking this one back up. I like that the main character is a post-doc researcher and it kind of goes into what it takes to become a professor, the politics of the scientific community/academia, and what research it all about when you’re really into it.
All from a fantasy perspective too, inventing a whole new area of study, which is really creative! Second lead detracts from all that though unfortunately

Very interesting so far! I like the main character—she’s very grounded and thinks/acts like a real person. The explanation of her area of study is also really in depth too.
