I’ve rarely read a book where I have felt both seen and called out to such an extent 😅 the author is extremely perceptive and has a very specific gift of describing relationships and feelings with succinct and pleasantly unique exactness. Audiobook narrator Juliet Stevenson is also top tier!

“An aged creature whose life is not visibly anything but a remnant of vices.” Wow there are such remarkable turns of phrase in this book. Part of me wishes I were reading it on ebook so I could highlight them all, but the narrator is so excellent in the audiobook, I don’t think I could read it any other way. I have listened to her audio book of Emma by Naxos and it was also excellent.
