It's readable but Bathsheba's being taken in by Frank Troy is so annoying... Key to the plot I know, but dear me... Being a fan of George Eliot I was hoping for similar (this is my first Hardy and probably my only as the others are all way too depressing!) but there's a richness lacking for the comparison. I will think on this as I read the last third...
